Services
Auto repair services in Windham, ME
Five things we do most, on all makes and models. Pick the one that matches your problem, or call and describe what the car is doing.
Maine State Inspection
Official Maine state inspection station on Route 302, with the Cumberland County emissions check and repairs in the same bays.
Oil Changes
Conventional or full-synthetic oil and filter, plus a look over the belts, fluids and tires while the car is up.
Brake Service
Pads, rotors, calipers, hoses and fluid, with a full inspection and a clear number before any work starts.
Engine Diagnostics
We read the codes, then do the testing that tells us what the code actually means before anyone buys a part.
Suspension Repair
Shocks, struts, springs, control arms, bushings, tie rods and ball joints, plus an alignment check.
Tires and Alignment
Tire mounting and balancing, seasonal winter and summer swaps, flat repair and wheel alignment.
General Auto Repair
The everyday work that keeps a car on the road: batteries and charging, cooling, exhaust, belts, hoses and maintenance.

How we handle repairs at M & Son
Every job in our bays follows the same simple rule. We find out what is wrong, tell you in plain words what it will cost, and wait for your yes before we turn a wrench. If something is worn but can wait, we will say so. If something is unsafe, we will say that too, and explain why.
We work on all makes and models, domestic and import, cars, trucks and SUVs. You do not need to have bought the car from us. Most of what comes through the bays was sold somewhere else. Bring in the car you have, whatever it is and wherever it came from, and we will treat it the same way.
Oil changes
An oil change is the cheapest maintenance there is and the easiest to put off. We use the oil type your owner's manual calls for, whether conventional or full-synthetic, and change the filter. It is also a good moment to take a quick look at the rest of the car while it is in the bay. Drivers who make a lot of short trips around North Windham should ask whether their car belongs on the severe service schedule.
Brake service
Squealing, grinding, a soft pedal or a pull to one side when you stop are all reasons to come in. Maine salt makes brakes wear in ways pad thickness alone will not show, so we look at rotors, calipers, slides and lines too. You will know what we found before we quote.
Engine diagnostics
A check-engine light is a message, not a diagnosis. A code tells us where to look. It does not tell us what part failed. We read the codes, test the system they point to and explain the real cause, so you are not paying to swap parts until the light goes out.
Suspension repair
The back roads around Sebago Lake are rough on struts, shocks, bushings and ball joints, especially after mud season. Clunks, a bouncy ride, wandering steering or uneven tire wear are the usual signs. We will show you what is worn on the lift.
General auto repair
Not every problem fits a category. Strange noises, leaks, electrical gremlins and things that just feel off all land here. Describe what the car is doing in your own words. We will take it from there.
Towing when it will not drive
If the car cannot make it in on its own, we run our own flatbed tow truck. It brings the car straight to our bays at 619 Roosevelt Trail, so there is no second trip from a tow yard.
Signs you should not ignore
Some warnings can wait until your next visit. Others cannot. A flashing check-engine light usually means the engine is misfiring badly enough to damage the catalytic converter. A brake pedal that sinks toward the floor, or grinding when you stop, points to a brake problem that needs attention now. A temperature gauge climbing into the red means pull over and shut the engine off. Clunking from the front end over bumps can mean a worn ball joint or tie rod, which are safety parts.
Other signs are slower but still worth a visit. A new smell of burning oil or sweet coolant. Drips on the driveway. A car that takes longer to start each cold morning, which often means a tired battery before a Maine winter. A steering wheel that shakes at highway speed on 302. Catching these early is almost always cheaper than waiting.
If you notice any of these, call before you keep driving. If the car is not safe to bring in, the tow truck can bring it to us.
Why a local shop on Route 302
We are at 619 Roosevelt Trail, right on the road most of Windham already drives. That makes it easy to drop a car off on the way to work or on an errand run through North Windham instead of making a separate trip. It also means we see the same kinds of wear over and over: salt damage, cold-start problems, and suspension parts beaten up by frost heaves. That local pattern helps us find problems faster.
We are an independent, locally owned shop. Santi and Ron run the bays. When you call, you talk to the people who will actually work on your car, not a call center.
Sales and service under one roof
We also buy, sell and trade used cars at the same address. If a repair quote does not make sense for an older car, we can talk about what it is worth as a trade or a sale right there. Our lot is empty for now, with more cars coming soon, but you can request a vehicle and we will call when one comes in.
